Reason #938,596 I love my BFF
She sends me texts like this:
“Can we add this to Rumpkin’s birth certificate?
‘It was a day filled with the glow of ordinary things & we passed them quietly from hand to hand for a long time & someone said he had picked a perfect day to be born & I think all of us felt the same.’”

I really like to save money and find bargains when I can. However, when I have birthday money, it’s the one time I like to splurge. And since my birthday was almost two months ago, this money has been burning a serious hole in my pocket. This year’s splurge was courtesy of MAC Cosmetics. The practical side is that I did actually need new powder and moisturizer…the impractical part is that it cost about three times as much as I would normally spend. Sometimes it feels good to be impractical.
My Journey to Motherhood
I looked and looked for some sort of beautiful essay, some quote that would eloquently word the way I feel about becoming a mother. I couldn’t find anything that would do my thoughts and feelings justice. I have come to the conclusion that there is no quote that can contain or explain all that is happening in my head and heart at this point in my life. I am elated and terrified, patient and anxious, energized and exhausted. So for now, I try not to worry about finding the perfect words, but instead enjoy and absorb every aspect of this new and beautiful stage in my life.
Yes, I know it’s July. Yes, I know it’s hot enough to cook this by setting it outside. Yet, I can not resist the goodness that is this soup. Paired with a lazy kid’s grilled cheese (mozzarella on a TJ Sandwich Thin, microwaved for a few), This. Is. Heaven.
